The NextGen Pricing Engine is a powerful tool designed to bring both standardization as well as a greater degree of automation in quote generation. The versatility of the Pricing Engine requires a grasp of the concepts behind the Pricing Engine modules and how they relate. Please review the following article which gives an overview of the Pricing Engine and its concepts.
These two modules work together and are the basic building blocks for your generated quote. "Component Types" is the master list of "Components" that will be queried when building a quote. Components are what you tie conditions to when building dollar amounts to be charged.
A Component Type must be added first. This is accomplished by entering the "admin" state within the Component Type Page. Contact Stellar support for instruction on the "admin" state.
-Navigate to the Create Component Type Button on the top right of the screen
-Type in your Component Type name, remember to follow the proper format
-Choose the unit type that you want to apply to this component
-Choose whether this item is taxable or not
-Press SAVE to add your component type to the available list
*Remember that if you are adding a component type with multiple words in its name, you must put an underscore "_" between each word. This is due to how the formula mathematics work*
The next step is to add a dollar amount and conditions to your Component Type.
-Go to the Components module, click Create Component, and add the desired parameters
-Locate your desired component type and select it
-Enter dates if desired. The date range capability allows for different components to be effective between varying dates. Such as peak period pricing or special event rates. You can also establish an "effective from" date here or leave blank, whichever is preferred
-Add your desired conditions
-Add your component pricing such as dollar amounts, priority, and discountable status
*Remember that your Components need to appear in the Formula to be effective*
Formulas make up the various pricing schema that can be applied to your Programs. To manipulate Formulas, you must be in the "admin" state within the Formulas page. Formulas are essentially mathematical notations, stringing together one component type to another. "Component Type" + "Component Type" + "Component Type"....etc.. Remember that in order for a Component Type to be automatically included in a quote, it must appear in the Formula.
-Navigate to the Create Formula button on the top right of the screen or press the three orange squares to edit an existing formula
*All components that are desired within a given formula must appear in the formula*
**Proper format in this section is vital. Follow the "Component" + "Component" type format**
Programs in NextGen can be made available to all accounts or specific entities. Programs can be built with certain "umbrella options" as defaults such as off fleet markup, percentage level price changes, invoice actuals, etc. The ability to apply certain programs to certain accounts allows a salesperson to quickly apply a price program without error, speeding up the quote generation process
Access Program changes and generation by entering the "admin" state on the Programs page
To access the Program screen to make changes, you must enter the "admin" state on the page
From here, you can edit, rename, and create programs
-Navigating to and pressing the "Create Program" button on the top right of the screen allows for creation of new Programs
-Name the new Program
